OUR HISTORY

Inspired by a diverse group of close friends with a common bond: delicious food, quality craft beers, and making memories. From this, Common Theory Public House was born in 2014. 

Our objective from the beginning: to build a warm, friendly space where everyone is welcome, and a place where there’s always something amazing available to eat and drink to suit anyone.   

We offer a rotating selection of over 30 craft beers on tap at one time, deriving from the most popular breweries in San Diego County, throughout California, and the US. 

Please note: We apply the literal meaning of “rotating beer selection”. While our draft lines are designated for certain styles, the brewery and beer names rotate consistently for variety. We also take extreme measures when it comes to cleaning and maintaining our draft beer system on a regular basis in order to always ensure that you have a clean, crisp, and flavorful glass of beer.

OUR VISION

Our kitchen, helmed by renowned California Chef Jonathan Bautista, focuses on enhancing and elevating simple, natural ingredients found in San Diego and throughout California using contemporary cooking sensibilities of different ethnic backgrounds. 

The symbiotic culture clash of our Korean-Chinese-Mexican-American background genuinely showcases itself in Common Theory’s ambiance, food, and drinks; demonstrating one common story of many of what it means to be Californian.
